Kew, after the rain

What a difference a day makes... Saturday, so it's Kew, but there was overnight rain (luckily it stopped earlier than forecast, on my way to Kew)  so get ready for raindrops... it's been a while!

this is the bed (in the middle) I think they may put some extra plants round the edge of... we'll see

it's Saturday so Kim is back!
lens change time.. trying to find somewhere dry-ish to put the bag down...

love how these grow out of the wall.

Broad Walk,  raindrop time...

the alliums on the right hand side (heading away from the palm house) are more gone over than those on the left bed.

where they still have lots of colour left in them

far end of the Broad Walk

irises outside the Orangery

round the corner, no sign of the fox cubs, but Mum was there....
she followed us down the path a bit

wet peony in the Duke's garden

eucalyptus tree

 wildflower bed

gorgeous blue of the cornflowers

despite the damp, lots of bees around
roses on the pergola
sweet pea in the veg garden

poppies

shame about the grey sky backdrop.

irises on the far wall of the EG/rock garden border

those roses from the other side of the EG

peonies

we decided to go and get our free cup of tea (it was 9, so time for cake....)

sat outside although the seats and tables were wet, and we had to wipe the seats first...

back to carrot cake for me

then round the rose garden

we killed a bit of time as it was nearly 10 so we could get into the waterlily house as soon as they opened, before it got too busy
tulip tree
bed outside the waterlily house

hurry up with those keys.....

yes, at last...

the girl who'd come to unlock stayed to do some watering... it would increase the humidity quickly so good thing we were there at 10

so next, Palm House

another lens change

it hasn't collapsed yet!
it wasn't smelly any more

it WAS bulging though!

took some more through leaves from round the corner

peek-a-boo!

I can still see you, titan!

outside the POW (but sheltered)
there are so many buds on this!
inside  POW

oops, photo bomb!

this one had opened since yesterday
we'll miss the rest of them though

pitcher plant
upper level

back down again

at the exit of the POW
rock garden daisies
primulas
cistus
at the lake... Egyptian babies.

they got up and rushed over to us where we were sitting on a bench

they were chasing around like mad, making focusing hard!
after a while they went off into the lake for a swim...

some kind of  sweet chestnut
Davies Exploration house, my old favourites

they need to do some staking in here, the strawflowers have largely collapsed

next across into the Temperate House

outside under the cherry trees,  no tulips left now
but some field poppies among the long grass

Kim and I both think they should plant wildflowers in here to follow on from the tulips, before they mow the grass

I love this bed at the top of the steps at the far end of Cherry Walk,
through the brickwork

doing my thing!

playing with function son the camera

we finished in the new wild rose garden

I don't think I'll be back again until next Saturday!!

LOVED the palm trees in the center bed. Beautiful raindrops on the irises. AH. Mum fox!! Great shots. Nice photo of you dressed for the weather. I LOVE seeing you smiling. A really super shot of you leaning on the urn. Still love the Wildflower Garden. Wish MY chives flowered like that. Thanks for taking us on another great trip to Kew.

Love the allium and the cornflowers (always a favourite of mine) I'm assuming there were some fabulous scents in the rose garden too.

Hugs

Wow Helen that's a lot of photos. The weather's been similar here, raining at night and then brighter during the day but windy too. I think the colours of the flowers show up better when it's not so sunny, they're beautiful. Thanks for popping over to mine too. Have a good dasy. Hugs Angela xxx
